Explore Landscapes #55: I need to spend more time on the coast taking photographs, as I always enjoy it when I do. But the desert. The desert always seems to call my name and get my attention.
Nice to see my home stretch or coast (Dorset) be featured here. I shot there with my brother who loves landscapes a bunch of times. Beautiful spot and well done on the capture.
Lovely images Jon. I especially like the pier shot and the soft tones and colours in the San Clemente image. I think projects are a great way to get re inspired and the coast offers such a lot of variety for this.
Thank you for mentioning my blog - it's much appreciated. 🙂
Love the SoCal photos Jon! Thanks so much for making miss SoCal a little more! I forgot about that oil rigs off the coast. Something you don't see where I am at.
Nice! Have to learn how to trust my histogram (as soon as I learn how to use it). I'm backpacking through Rockie Mountain National Park now and trusting my intuition when composing images and using natural light. But intuition is not always trustworthy. I believe in skill and mastery. Still have a lot to learn.
Hey Alex … enjoy your backpacking in RMNP … that must be beautiful. Learning to trust the histogram is the thing that did the most to improve my photography.
Love those pier shots! I’m obsessed with Southern California piers and I can’t believe you live so close and rarely go. When I used to live near San Diego I went several times a week 😃 On the other hand, I’ve only been to JT once. Joshua trees are on my bucket list so I’m going to check out your workshops.

The light in some of these is amazing! Thank you for sharing! Just perfect on a grey morning like today in Hamburg.
You seem to have lived here long enough to go on vacation like a real Hamburg person - visiting Sylt! 🤣
Dana point looks beautiful Jon. Look forward to more of these photographs!
Thanks Shital - I count myself lucky to live where I do. I have mountains, deserts, forests and ocean within a 1-5 hours 🙏

Thanks very much, Jon. Yes, I need to hunker down and learn histogram and a few other essential tools. Love your photos.
Very cool…I live about 1/2 a mile from Portland Bill and never tire of the scenery. Winters are tough but the summer makes it all worthwhile!
Hey Rob - Portland Bill (and the Dorset coast) is a special place. I’ve only been once but it’s on my bucket list for my next trip back to the UK.
I'll meet you by the lighthouse...with a flask of tea!!

Hey Ana - glad you like the pier shots. I will start to go more often. JT is my happy place … could spend the rest of my days there …
