Visual Diary #3: Hamburg - Ten Years Later
Explore Landscapes #39: It's 10 years (almost to the day) since we left Hamburg and moved to Southern California. This milestone had me reminiscing so I thought I'd share some images from Hamburg.
This post is opportunistic. I underestimated how long I’d need to write the post that was due yesterday, and by happenstance today, I realized it’s been 10 years since we left Hamburg, Germany, and moved to the US.
So, I’m going to take this opportunity to share some of my favorite images from Hamburg, when I’d yet to fall in love with landscape photography and was happily shooting abstract and urban photographs.
This post is a bit on the long side, and Substack is telling me it may get truncated when delivered to your email inbox. If so, please click View in browser at the top right of the email.
I hope you enjoyed my trip down memory lane as much as I did. From Thursday, we'll return to regular programming (i.e. landscape photography).
Do you need help with camera setup, or is there a specific technique you’d like to learn or improve upon?
Would you like help with post-processing, a review of your photography portfolio, or feedback/tips on improving?
I'm available for one-to-one photography mentoring sessions. These are focused on helping you get the most out of your photography, providing online photography critique, and improving your landscape photography technique.
Online photography mentoring is available as individual sessions (1 hour, 1.5 hours, or 2 hours). Mentoring sessions are conducted over an online video conferencing service and are focused on the subject(s) you want to cover.

Great commemorative set from Hamburg, a city I’ve only visited a few times but that I delight in re-acquainting myself with each time. I really like the vibe you captured, it gels with my own impressions of your former home.
I love Germany. My favorite places are in the southern mountain region, near Austria. Thank you for sharing.
